Football Disappointments

25 Nov

Well, before I get into my latest rant, I thought I’d mention that our house has most of its tile now!  It looks really good, and we’ll have pictures up tomorrow.

Ok, now to football.  I was watching the Texas vs. Texas A&M highlights, and they showed briefly where some player on A&M tackled Texas’ quarterback (McCoy) several seconds after the play was over when he didn’t see it coming.  From what I know, all he got was an ejection!  If there is one thing in football that needs nipping in the bud, it is completely inappropriate behavior like that.  I’m not talking about people trying to sneak in an illegal move without the ref’s seeing.  Unfortunately, you can’t catch ‘em all.  BUT, when someone does something like that openly, something harsh needs to be done.

Now, what would that be?  I call for suspension for at least 4 games, and I’m not just talking about not playing.  They should not be allowed inside the stadium.  Now, for such brazen acts, I believe there should also be a serious team penalty because this kind of behavior should NEVER happen.  I’m not saying seldom, or not very often…I’m saying NEVER.  So, I’d say give ‘em 20 yards.  It would have to be a completely subjective call on the part of the referree to determine if it is a blatant AND severe foul, but I don’t see that being a problem.

Can we eliminate fouls and illegal moves in any sport?  No.  In fact, even if everyone DID have the best of intentions, someone’s still going to mess up and commit the foul.  The solution is punishing willful and blatant fouls with the utmost severity to send the message to all ill-intending individuals that such insolence will not be indulged.

Almost there…

20 Nov

We are now 32 days from closing, and I can hardly wait.  Our house seems to be progressing everyday.  Last time I took pictures was on Friday, November 17th.  At that point, we have lights, vents, and we almost have appliances.

On Friday, I went to go see the appliances, and they were BLACK!  We ordered white!  So, the builder is replacing them with what we ordered.  That’s what is happening as far as house progress goes.  :)

Holy paint and wood Batman!

14 Nov

Well, on Monday they painted the house and took off the tape on the wood.  I am in absolute love with the color of the wood.  It is not too dark and not too light.   The color of the wood is called fruitwood.  I love it, love it, love it!

Today they put in the countertops in the kitchen and the bathroom.  The cultered marble in the bathroom is beautiful.  The countertops in the kitchen are awesome.  Our house is very…tan.  I love it a lot!

Can you tell that I love my house and how everything is coming together?  Well, if you can’t… I so love my house and how everything is coming together!

Corruption in the Level of American Intelligence

12 Nov

I just wanted to share my views on something I noticed in the aftermath of the congressional elections this past week.  On a number of occasions, I heard analysts say that besides the war in Iraq, one of the main deciding factors in how people voted was all the scandals that have taken place within the Republican party (Jack Abermov, Senator Foley from Florida who had improper relations with pages, etc.).  I’m really sad to see that this affected the elections in any way.

Why?  Because it had nothing to do with the party being Republican!  It had everything to do with the party involved being the party in power!  Before the Republican revolution in 1994, you would find corruption in the Democratic party.  Is it because they were Democrats?  No, its just how it rolls.  It seems that congressmen/women have a rich history of corruption regardless of their party.  It makes no logical sense to say that is a Republican trait.  There is nothing about being a Republican that gives you a greater tendency towards immoral behavior.  Its not as if you have troublemaker genes inserted into you when you run for office under the banner of the elephant. Smelly Stuff

12 Nov

Well, lots of new smells at our house.  We had all the wood trim, door frames, doors, cabinets, etc. (anything wood) installed this week.  I have to tell you, it smelled quite scintillating.  Now, add to that the smell of wood staining, and well, you get scintillating + intoxicating (if not ventilated properly).  I’m not sure exactly what that equals, but it does add up to something REALLY smelly!

So, yeah, all the wood is stained and ready for the painting of the walls.  They also poured the concrete on the driveway, sidewalks, and back patio.  Despite Jessica’s shoe prints on the back patio (you’ll have to ask HER if you want that story!), it looks flawless.  No, really, it all looks really good!
