Three weeks and counting

27 Feb

Well, in three weeks is SPRING BREAK!  That means Adam and I are taking off for the Caribbean on a 7 night cruise!

We are totally stoked.  We’ve never done anything like this before and have always wanted to do it.  We figure we might as well do it while we have fewer responsibilies.

We have been eating on the Gylcemic Index to loose weight for our health and for our trip.  Thus far we have lost 10 pounds each.  We have even started going back to the gym to help us get back in shape or in shape to begin with.  :)

Let’s see…the newest thing that has happened to us… We learn that Adam is allergic to Meclizine.  Adam had a weird cold that made him nasus, dizzy and incredibly tired.  He was home from work pretty much all week last week.  So, we went to the doctor on Wednesday afternoon, and he did an EKG.  The doctor said the EKG showed some rythms that were indicative of having a previous heartattack.  We were weirded out too.  He suggested that we head to the Emergency Room to have it checked out.  We went.

Three hours later, we got back into a room.  They did another EKG and the doctor said that there was nothing wrong!  They gave Adam a saline drip, and perscribed him Meclizine for the dizziness.  We left the room 3 hours after we went back and got home at 11:30.

The next day, Adam went to work.  He came home about mid-day because the medicine was making him really nervous and edgy.  It was crazy!  He stopped taking it, and he was fine.  We went to the gym that night!  It was a crazy week last week.

Anyway, I’ll write again later.

A Long, Cold Week

4 Feb

This week has been a long cold week for us.  Last Thursday, January 25th, my grandpa was taken to the hospital while my grandma was here with my parents.  My parents got my grandmother home as soon as they could (she arrived on Friday afternoon).  The doctors found out he had diabetes and leukemia, and he wasn’t expected to live very long.

So my mother flew out last Saturday (and won’t be back until this Thursday) to be with Grandma and Grandpa.  On Sunday, after all of my Aunts and Uncles got to talk with him, the doctors took off the oxygen mask and stopped giving him the treatment that was keeping the leukemia at bay, because my grandpa asked them to do so.

We have been waiting with bated breath all week with what has been happening.  In the middle of the night of Friday, Grandpa went home.  It is good to know that he is no longer in the pain he was in near the end.  We love you and we’ll miss you while we are apart.
So, it has been a long week for us and my family.
